Swiss Wine by Fassbind

This hotel is well located directly beside the Bessieres train station (you basically come up the station’s elevator and can almost walk directly into the hotel’s side entrance door). We stayed in a superior double room, and we had an awesome panoramic view looking out over the Cathedral and the old town. Our room was a slightly odd shape since it was located in the interior corner of an L shaped building, but the layout made the best use of the space. We had a fridge, kettle with powered coffee packets, and a safe, and the bathroom was huge (I loved all the counter space!). The room did not have a balcony but there was a radiator directly underneath the giant windows so we were able to move the stool/chair beside the window and then it was almost like we were sitting outside eating breakfast. We did not opt for the hotel breakfast since it is an extra cost. Instead, we grabbed breakfast at the conveniently located Coop just across the street each morning. Overall, I would definitely stay here again if I found myself in Lausanne. The room was clean, modern, fun, and comfortable.

The hotel was in a good place near the shopping areas and nice local restaurants. The room had an iron readily available for business travellers like me. The room was just fine for a solo traveller with comfortable bed. The wifi worked well for business meetings during the morning.

Nice hotel very clean. No facilities though, no bar or restaurant.

Access from the train station is a breeze. Take the metro and then elevator up to the hotel's door. Historic appearance outside with updated interior. Rooms were nice with deep soaking tubs for after those hilly hikes. Breakfast spread was varied, abundant, and delicious! Located in an excellent area for walking around the olde town and seeing the majestic cathedrals...and listening to their bells. Staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.

This hotel is in a great location - only 50m from a large supermarket and only 20 metres from the lift down to the metro / tram (which takes you right through the old town, shopping district and down to the Lake), so it was great to take advantage of the free transport card issued to visitors. (It’s a horrible walk up the hill from the main train station. Don’t do it! Catch the metro.) The room was very large with a kettle, sink, tiny bar fridge and convection cook top. A good quality frypan and two saucepans were supplied. The overhead fan was super quiet and worked effectively. We stayed early October and heard no noise from other guests (although there were very few).
